Small habits. Big change.
Effective date: August 12, 2026 · Last updated: August 12, 2026
Atomi is designed with privacy at its core. Your habit data never leaves your device. We do not have user accounts, we do not store your data on any server, and we do not sell any information to anyone.
All of your personal habit data is stored locally on your device using an on-device database (SQLite). This includes your habit names, cues and triggers, completion records, streaks, settings and preferences, and any identity statements you write. This data is never transmitted to us or any third party. It exists only on your phone. If you uninstall Atomi, this data is permanently deleted.
Atomi provides a manual backup feature that exports your data as a JSON file. When you use the export function, the file is created locally on your device and shared using your phone's built-in share menu. You choose where to save it — Google Drive, local storage, email, or any other destination. We never access, read, or store your backup files. The backup file contains your habit data in plain text (JSON format). We recommend storing it in a secure location.
Atomi uses Google Firebase to collect limited, anonymous data to help us improve the app. We collect the following:
| Data type | Purpose | Contains personal info? |
|---|---|---|
| Crash reports | Identify and fix bugs that cause the app to crash | No |
| App performance data | Monitor app speed and responsiveness | No |
| Anonymous usage events | Understand which features are used (e.g. "a habit was created", "a backup was exported") | No |
| Device information | Android version, device model, screen size — for compatibility testing | No |
| Firebase instance ID | Required by Firebase to deliver analytics — this is a random identifier, not tied to your identity | No |
We never collect your habit names, cue text, identity statements, completion details, or any content you enter into the app. Our analytics only record anonymous actions like "a habit was created" — never what the habit is.
Atomi uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
We do not use any advertising SDKs, social media tracking, or data brokers.
Atomi uses Firebase Remote Config to manage app settings such as feature availability and maximum habit limits. This service fetches configuration values from Google's servers when the app is opened. No personal data is sent during this process — only the app version and platform are transmitted. The app works fully offline if this service is unavailable.
If you enable reminders for a habit, Atomi schedules local notifications on your device. These notifications are processed entirely on your phone — they are not sent through any external push notification service. No notification data is transmitted to us or any third party.
Atomi is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.
Since all personal data is stored on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete all data within the app by going to Settings and tapping "Reset All Data." Alternatively, uninstalling the app removes all stored data permanently. Anonymous analytics data collected by Firebase is retained according to Google's standard data retention policies, typically for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
Because your data is stored locally on your device and not on our servers, you already have full control. You can view all your data within the app, export your data at any time using the backup feature, delete all your data using the in-app reset or by uninstalling, and you can opt out of analytics by disabling usage data sharing in your device's Android settings under Google > Ads.
All data transmitted between the app and Firebase services is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Your local data is stored in the app's private storage directory, which is sandboxed by the Android operating system — other apps cannot access it. We do not store any data on our own servers, so there is no server-side data to breach.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users through an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Atomi after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
